Well, after taking a month off from fundraising, I thought it might be a good time to start raising money for the 22nd Annual “For Women Only” Snowmobile Ride. As a club, we raised a lot of money – so this year, I would like to challenge all of you to set the mark higher and let’s raise even more money!

Each year, I ask for fundraising ideas and most importantly, assistance in organizing the events. And this year is no different – I really can use all the help I can get! At times, this becomes overwhelming.

Here are a few fundraisers that are planned, with dates to follow shortly.

Some are participation fundraisers, which allows the women who participate to split the funds from that fundraiser. And the rest are general fundraisers, where the money goes into the general fund and are split among all the women that requested funds.

  • Pizza Hut Fundraiser – We will be having a few of these fundraiser nights in Oakland County. A portion of the profits will be donated to the Snomads for distribution into the FWO account. This is a participation fundraiser.

  • Fall Flower Bulbs – These are usually a good fundraiser, and some women raise over $100 from this fundraiser. Fall flower bulbs are pre-ordered and each woman receives 50% profit. This is a participation fundraiser.

  • Spaghetti Dinner – This is held prior to the General Meeting in September. We have a great time in the kitchen. No food fights have started yet! This is a participation fundraiser.

  • Pampered Chef – Karen Ignash organizes and runs this fundraiser. She will have catalogs out at the Spaghetti Dinner and orders will be in sometime in October.

  • Cookie Dough – This will be a late fall fundraiser, we take pre-orders for cookie dough and I have it at the time of the Kick-Off Party for distribution. This is a participation fundraiser.

  • Cell Phones/Ink Jet Recycle – We collect as many cell phones and ink jet cartridges all year, and bring them to the General Meeting and the Kick-Off party. They get mailed in and a check is written to the Snomads from the recycle center. This is a general fund fundraiser.

  • Pop Tabs – By collecting the pop/beer tabs from the aluminum cans, we turn them in and collect money. Everyone brings them to the General Fund or Kick-Off Party. This is a general fund fundraiser.

The following are some fundraising ideas that I had, but I will need help setting up and organizing (these are only ideas):

  • Calendars – Club members can donate the use of their snowmobile pictures, and we would try to create a Snomads calendar for 2009.

  • Cookbook – Club members can donate recipes and we can put them together in a simple book.

  • Game Night – Use the Church that we rent for the General Meeting and have a game night. Euchre, Poker, etc… We can serve food and snacks.

  • Car Wash – Find a location to have a car wash this summer. Maybe even 2 of them.

  • Garage Sale – We can try this again, but in years past it did not bring in much money. If someone has a location, we can try it again.

  • Golf Outing – Still need a location and someone to set this up.

These are definitely a lot of fundraisers!

Our biggest fundraiser is the Kick-Off Party raffle and auction. This fundraiser brings in a lot of money, but it is also the hardest fundraiser to prepare for. A few of us have to beg and plead for prizes at the Novi Show and from businesses we do business with regularly. I thought we would take a different approach to this fundraiser this year – lets improve on a good thing - what businesses do we go to through out the summer (marinas, boat dealers, get some gift cards, etc… )? I have donation letters, and would be happy to send them out to anyone who needs them. These items can be stored until the Party.

If anyone has any ideas or wants to help me organize and take on any of these fundraisers, please let me know.
