To Stud or Not to Stud?

While at Sno-Motion yesterday, I purchased a 2013 Polaris Adventure. The Sled comes with a 1.35 Cobra Track. Not sure if I should put studs on it or not.

If it would be recommended to put studs on it, what studs would you recommend and how many.

Any thoughts?

How long is it? and I would go with 2 per row down the center in a V or hour glass )( pattern that way it wont effect your turning if you stud the outside edges it makes it a little harder ( you can't swing it) and I would maybe run a 1.5 stud Fast Trac is a good stud that what I use

Thank you Merle, it is a 136" Cobra Track. I printed an article on the v pattern, I think that is the way I will go.

Did you stud your own or have it done by someone?

If you go to the http://www.woodystraction.com web site they recommend 162 1.450 studs as an "intermediate" set up. A graphic is also shown, 3 studs per bar in single or single /double backer patterns.
Having done a few, I highly recommend the proper hole cutter drill (keep it sharp!) & an air or battery powered impact wrench.
Do not overtighten (about 15 ft lbs). Full instructions are available on the woodys site.
If you want I can swing by and "supervise" . A 24 pack of LABATTS should suffice

My track on my 06 Renagade 600SDI which is a SKI-DOO 136 was premarked at 2 per row and is 108 studs of course Woody's is going to say more they sell studs and they probably say to stud out past the window also and IMHO i would not do that I like them down the middle I have done all mine that way and a couple of my buddies that way and yes get the stud drill bit you can do about 5 holes before you have to push the centers out

ACX2 - The beer is already Chilling. We still need to finish up the boat, plenty of beer for both projects.

I plan to pick the sled up the last week of September. Most likely the 29th. Nelson's called yesterday and confirmed the sled has arrived. I will call you once I have it in the garage.

Merle, thanks for the added information. Will defenitely get the drill bit, already have the air impact wrenchs.

I wish I'd have seen this before the last Board meeting. I probably have 10 track dill bits. 5/16 and 7mm. I also have an air ratchet and allen wrench with a piece of fuel line on it to make holding the stud easier. Plus, I just happen to have a brand new set of studs for a 1.352" x 136 Cobra track (108). I could come down some Saturday and watch Al Supervise you.
